Episode 21 NZ Pro Whaling, Mcdonalds+Weightwatchers, Temple Grandin
Episode 21
NZ Pro Whaling, Mcdonalds+Weightwatchers, Temple Grandin
Hello and welcome to episode 21 of Coexisting With Nonhuman Animals.
This episode I'd like to talk about New Zealand becoming a Pro Whaling country, Mcdonalds and Weightwatchers entering an unholy relationship, and the HBO Temple Grandin movie.
A recent news story in New Zealand is how we may become a Pro Whaling country. It sickens me to even say that, "New Zealand, my country, a proud, Pro Whaling country".

Next Episode Delayed
My next episode might be a week away, I've been having internet problems.
I'll be covering NZ potentially being "pro whaling", and a trailer for the HBO Temple Grandin movie.

Adam Kochanowicz about Welfarism
An excellent article by Adam Kochanowicz, who explains problems with Welfare reform much better than I did on my last episode :)
"Animal welfarism is no more absent today than it was in 1641 when the first animal welfare laws were written in the United States. We believe the powers that be are hard at work ensuring the best possible conditions for the nonhuman animals we call food."
"These conceptions are very attractive. They ensure we can continue to enjoy the fruits of animals while believing we are participating in a mutual or fair exchange. The reality of our relations to nonhumans shows us a truth we all have feared accepting: We shouldn't eat animals. If we care about sentient beings, we shouldn't even eat from them or use them as our property. That we derive a benefit from exploitation is not a moral justification."

Episode 20 Swallowing Goldfish, SPCA Pearl giveaway, Sow Crates...Again...
Hello, welcome to episode 20 of Coexisting With Nonhuman Animals. This episode, live Goldfish Swallowing, the SPCA giving away pearls and SAFE are still focusing on Happy Meat.
I'd like to say hello to all the people who read my blog, I write and read from a script as I record each episode, some times you can tell I am reading because of how i am talking like I am reading.... I put the script up on my blog when I post the audio. I like having the script up for people to read, because the more information, the better, but I really would plead to the people who only read my scripts, please listen to the audio as well, I mean, the point of this podcast is for me to play clips for you, you're not meant to be paying attention to what I say! The clips are the whole point of my show, and I dont really want to transcribe each clip I use :) However, if you are trying to avoid hearing my voice, you can always watch the full video clips I include on my show, these are listed at the bottom of each script.

Listeners Worldwide :)

Its always interesting to see where my show is downloaded, this map was taken a day after Episode 19 Animal Cruelty came out. These were the file downloads for that day. I'm not bragging about it, Elizabeth etc no doubt posses 10X the listeners I have, but I'm happy that its more people than just ME downloading my podcast :) :) :)
Still, I have no real idea how many people listen! I'd love to just hear from every one in a blog comment!
Thank you for listening to my podcast :)

Episode 18 Mad Butcher Has Cancer, Catcha Cray Returns
Hello and Welcome to the eighteenth episode of Coexisting With Nonhuman Animals. This episode I have two stories, The Mad Butcher Has Cancer, and the Catcha Cray Machines Return.
Most New Zealanders, especially those further north from where I live, have heard of Peter "The Mad Butcher" Leitch. Leitch has made his fortune from his chain of meat shops, although he has now since retired, hes currently 66.
"The Mad Butcher" is one of the most well known and respected New Zealanders, he was granted "The Queens Service Medal", for his donations to charity throughout his life.

I'd like to say hello to one of my friends, Gordon, who has listened to many of my episodes and sometimes leaves comments on my blog. I'd love to hear from you by email Gordon. Also, just as I were planning this episode, a new email showed up from Randi from Ohio in the United States of America. Its great to think that people all around the world listen to what I say on my cheap mic, sitting in my bedroom. I've seen downloads from Ireland, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, Canada, although most of my listeners are in America. I love hearing from anyone who listens to me ramble on, my email is j a y w o n t d a r t @gmail.com .

Episode 16
Australia Day Lamb Ads
Hello and welcome to episode sweet sixteen of Coexisting With Nonhuman Animals. I'd like to talk about an Australian holiday, aptly named Australia Day. Just to be clear, I'm a New Zealander, we are not part of Australia no matter how much Australia wishes it could steal our best actors and pavlova, a meringue type dessert made by beating egg whites. Australia and New Zealand have grappled since the dawn of time who came up with the crusty white blob, its known as a national food of BOTH countries. Wikipedia is currently saying New Zealand seems to be the origin, although Wikipedia is easy to "correct". Frankly, I never liked pavlova, or "pav" as its often called, and I dont miss it now that I'm vegan. I have two good friends to include later on, Sam Tucker, a fellow New Zealand vegan and Francis Glass, an Australian Vegan who was interviewed by Elizabeth Collins on NZ Vegan Podcast episodes 34 and 35.

The best comeback against vegans ever!
Contains swearing.
I'd mentioned to some of my farming friends that I talked about them on Episode 49 of NZ Vegan Podcast, and I got this response, telling me that one of the posters didnt want to be my friend anymore! :( boo hoo!
"must be bl dy thick, doesnt get the hint he's not wanted i'll put it more planer, stick yer head up yer boyfreinds arse and stay in queer school, not with the inelligent part of nz"
Look at all the mistakes! The more rural parts of NZ, Southland included, often have a "hate" for homosexual people.
Well, if thats how "inelligent" people act, I'm glad to be a "thick" vegan :)

Episode 14 Sea Shepherd
Episode 14 Sea Shepherd
Hello and welcome to episode 14 of Coexisting With Nonhuman Animals. This episode I'll talk about Sea Shepherd.
I've been interested in Sea Shepherd for a long time, but have put off doing an episode about them until now. What's made Sea Shepherd especially interesting for me, has been the Ady Gil, a boat formally known as "Earth Race". Earth Race was built to break the world record in crossing the world in a powered boat. Earth Race could run on diesel or biodiesel, and had a aggressive design, built to piece through waves rather than going over top. Earth Race set a new world record for powered boats, fully circling the world in just 60 days, 23 hours and 49 minutes, I could have just round that up to "under 61 days".
