Australia Day Lamb Ads

Hello and welcome to episode sweet sixteen of Coexisting With Nonhuman Animals. I'd like to talk about an Australian holiday, aptly named Australia Day. Just to be clear, I'm a New Zealander, we are not part of Australia no matter how much Australia wishes it could steal our best actors and pavlova, a meringue type dessert made by beating egg whites. Australia and New Zealand have grappled since the dawn of time who came up with the crusty white blob, its known as a national food of BOTH countries. Wikipedia is currently saying New Zealand seems to be the origin, although Wikipedia is easy to "correct". Frankly, I never liked pavlova, or "pav" as its often called, and I dont miss it now that I'm vegan. I have two good friends to include later on, Sam Tucker, a fellow New Zealand vegan and Francis Glass, an Australian Vegan who was interviewed by Elizabeth Collins on NZ Vegan Podcast episodes 34 and 35.

The best comeback against vegans ever!

Contains swearing.

I'd mentioned to some of my farming friends that I talked about them on Episode 49 of NZ Vegan Podcast, and I got this response, telling me that one of the posters didnt want to be my friend anymore! :( boo hoo!

"must be bl dy thick, doesnt get the hint he's not wanted i'll put it more planer, stick yer head up yer boyfreinds arse and stay in queer school, not with the inelligent part of nz"

Look at all the mistakes! The more rural parts of NZ, Southland included, often have a "hate" for homosexual people.

Well, if thats how "inelligent" people act, I'm glad to be a "thick" vegan :)

Hello and welcome to episode 15 of Coexisting With Nonhuman Animals, Violence.

Before I start, I'd love to mention one of my new friends who listens to my podcast,
Sasha James,  Thank you for emailing me Sasha.  She mentions:
"Recently at World Animal Day in Melbourne I was talking to some reps
from Sea Shepherd and spoke to them about their activisim, and how it could be
less confrontational...and whether confrontation that puts peoples
lives in danger is the best method..."

I love hearing from listeners, so please think about emailing me, with
positive or negative feedback, at jaywontdart@gmail.com"

Episode 14 Sea Shepherd

Episode 14 Sea Shepherd

Hello and welcome to episode 14 of Coexisting With Nonhuman Animals. This episode I'll talk about Sea Shepherd.

I've been interested in Sea Shepherd for a long time, but have put off doing an episode about them until now. What's made Sea Shepherd especially interesting for me, has been the Ady Gil, a boat formally known as "Earth Race". Earth Race was built to break the world record in crossing the world in a powered boat. Earth Race could run on diesel or biodiesel, and had a aggressive design, built to piece through waves rather than going over top. Earth Race set a new world record for powered boats, fully circling the world in just 60 days, 23 hours and 49 minutes, I could have just round that up to "under 61 days".

WSPA: "there is no humane way to kill a whale"

I took a screenshot of a WSPA ad

How can there be a "humane" way to kill a cat, a dog, a cow, a sheep, a pig, a duck, a deer, a person...but not a "humane" way to kill a Whale?

Whales are no more special than a cow or chicken. Please WSPA, promote Veganism!
